Arno Profile System

The Temperament Analysis Profile I administer is the Arno Profile System (APS) which is used in conjunction with Christian-centered procedures. It is a powerful tool that measures and identifies the client’s temperament in three different areas: Inclusion, Control, and Affection. Inclusion is a person’s social orientation and intellectual energies. Control is a person's willingness or unwillingness to make decisions for self and others. It determines whether an individual is independent (a leader) or dependent (a follower). Affection measures a person’s interaction in deep personal relationships.

Drs. Richard and Phyllis Arno developed this beneficial procedure over a seven-year study through systematic research with over 5000 individuals. Their objectives were to base it on Scripture; to save clients and Christian counselors’ precious time; and to produce effective, positive, and more immediate results with those in need of answers to life issues. They created by the leading of the Holy Spirit a scientifically sound profiling system-one that is very effective if the user answers the questions honestly. This system does not measure behavior, but it measures a person’s inborn temperament or their inborn pre-disposition to the world around them.

This temperament profile has been proven highly successful in proven studies. The Christian counselor gains insight into the behavior tendencies of the client and then uses this evaluation to help each person understand their God-given inborn temperament. This assessment clearly measures the strengths and weaknesses within a person’s temperament and therefore has been a proven tool to help people with personal growth issues and for improving group relationship dynamics. In using this profile, consideration is given to learned behavior, personality, family of origin, and birth order, as well as the individual’s relationship with God.

The APS is an eye opening, in-depth assessment that helps individuals grow in their understanding and appreciation of themselves and each other. Each individual will be given a personal report to take home that is full of insight into their temperament. The APS only takes 8 to 10 minutes to complete. We want the respondent to read each question carefully and to respond as honestly as he or she is able.  The APS has shown us how to go around a person’s mask and defensive mechanisms and take a picture, or snapshot of their pre-disposition/soul.

On the other hand, we cannot obtain an accurate profile on someone who is under the influence of drugs or alcohol; mentally challenged by suffering from brain damage or retardation; or someone who intentionally tries to deceive us with their responses.
